Magnolia seed pods are often called the everlasting gobstoppers of aquarium and vivarium botanicals. Their hard, woody exterior allows them to last far longer than most natural botanicals, making them a favourite for aquarists and bioactive keepers who want structure that endures.

As these pods condition in water, they develop rich layers of biofilm that encourage natural grazing and foraging behaviour in freshwater shrimp, plecos, and other bottom-dwelling species. Magnolia seed pods are also widely used in amphibian and axolotl setups, where the biofilm provides a natural supplementary food source for axolotl tadpoles and microfauna.

Tannins Released: Medium

All our botanicals are organically sourced, free from harmful pesticides, and naturally sun-dried without the use of chemicals.
