WHERE IT ALL STARTED

“Allow your passion to become your purpose, and it will one day become your profession.” And that’s how Castle Dawn Aquatics came to be. It all started for me when my grandfather setup a guppy tank for my fifth birthday almost 30 years ago. From that point on my passion for this wonderful hobby grew into a lifestyle, taking me across the world aiding in aquatic conservation, and learning new aspects of fishkeeping from other cultures.

In 2009 I left Ireland and moved to China, and in 2011 I opened Castle Dawn Aquatics, focusing on importing blackwater South American and South Asian species into the Chinese ornamental fish market. It wasn’t easy, but through sheer grit and passion my small team and I managed to make a success of it. Since then we have grown and expanded into our own brand comprising of filters, foods, and accessories, as well as becoming one of the leading aquascapers and importers/exporters of specialised fish in the Canton area.

In 2017 we opened our doors to the world through our online store, providing quality aquarium products at affordable prices. The response was phenomenal, and it has been such a pleasure for my team and me to cater to our fellow aquarists all over the globe.

A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT US

Castle Dawn Aquatics online shop caters to novices and experienced aquarists alike. We offer a range of aquarium equipment and accessories at competitive prices. Our range of aquascaping materials is diverse, with some materials being almost impossible to find, except through Castle Dawn Aquatics. All our aquascaping materials and aquatic botanicals are ethically sourced, naturally dried, and free from ethanol's and chemicals.

Our brick and mortar stores are located in Foshan and Hong Kong and we are the only Irish-owned aquatic business in mainland China. We are the largest aquatic retail store in Foshan, and the 3rd largest importer/exporter of ornamental fish, aquariums, aquarium products, and aquascaping supplies in the Canton province, and between us we are on our way to 1st place by the end of 2021.

Being located in China gives us an unique advantage. One being we have our own factories so we have complete control over product production, ensuring all products meet western quality standards. Another advantage is we can provide our retail and online customers with competitive prices on par with wholesale as we manufacture most products ourselves. We also guarantee all products we sell are made from 100% aquatic safe materials. You may not be aware but a lot of aquarium products on the market coming out of China can potentially damage your aquarium, check out our blog on the dangers of buying cheap aquatic equipment.

The most important thing you should know about us is we care, we are all fishkeepers at Castle Dawn Aquatics and we would never manufacture or sell anything that we would not use ourselves. Our expertise is free, so if you have any questions about a product, aquascaping or any fish-related inquiries we would be more than happy to help.

OUR CONSERVATION EFFORTS

Over the years we have worked on many international conservation projects for aquatic species, however, bettas have always been our main focus. Over 28 species of wild Betta have been assessed by the IUCN as endangered or critically endangered as of 2019.

In 2015 we established the Castle Dawn Aquatics Betta Rescue program, where 20% of the profit from any Betta-related product went back into wild Betta conservation. We are thrilled to be extending this program to our online sales with the launch of our new website.

OUR OWN BRAND

The Castle Dawn Aquatics brand is the result of years of hard work and a lot of sleepless nights. We wanted to create products that were hardwearing, make fishkeeping a little easier and provide a better quality life for the inhabitants of the aquarium. All our products are made using high-quality materials and come with a minimum 1-year warranty (T&C Apply) .

All our foods are made from natural GMO-free ingredients with no artificial colours or preservatives, nutritionally balanced for growth, colour and a healthy immune system.
