These are the go-to leaves for all our blackwater species, these are perfect for breeders or for someone who wants to create a more natural feel to their blackwater biotope aquascapes. The leaves have naturally dried and fallen from the tree, curled up or crinkled in the process.
They do the exact same job as grade A leaves (Grading in Catappa Indian almond leaves is used to refer to the cosmetic appearance only) they just aren’t as refined in appearance, however, in our opinion they give a more natural appearance when used in aquascaping.
Catappa Indian almond leaves are renowned for their antibacterial properties helping keep common aquarium diseases at bay. They are also known to increase fish health, colour and create suitable spawning conditions for many South American and South-eastern fish species.

COMMON QUESTION: Customers have reached out to us regarding concerns about the use of Eucalyptus Seed Pods and the release of essential oil. Out of all parts of the Eucalyptus tree, the seed pods contain the least amount of essential oil, with the bark and sap having the highest traces.
After boiling the seed pods for the recommended time, the essential oil released is minimal. This is why they are used by many aquarists in parts of Southeast Asia, as it is believed the small trace of essential oil after prepping the seed pods is just enough to have a positive antibacterial effect on the aquarium.
