KURO KI Authentic Kishu Binchotan Aquarium Carbon Wood 5 Pieces per pack
This is authentic Kishu Binchotan – the trees grow where the Japanese founded it over 400 years ago. From a small region and its coastline in Japan. This wood does not grow anywhere else in the world. Because of the density, due to where the trees grow along the coast and the kiln process,  the inner charcoal sticks look like metal in part and sound like metal when struck together.
Japanese Binchotan activated carbon branches have been used by shrimps keepers in Asia for decades. Binchotan can absorb heavy metals and chemicals from your aquarium for to up to 6 months. Binchotan slowly releases trace elements and minerals such as calcium and magnesium which are essential to shrimp for healthy moults and maintaining health. Binchotan is décor with benefits for sure, shrimp appear to enjoy it as much as Ceylon Cinnamon and will gladly spend their time nibbling away at it. Â
Run out of dechlorinator? Binchotan can absorb heavy metals as well as chlorine and chloramine from water and is commonly used in parts of Japan to filter water for drinking.
Note: Aquarium carbon helps remove contaminants, tannins and if needed medications from aquarium water. Carbon can effectively act as biological media due to its porous structure, however, carbon is NOT an instant solution for poor water quality. Carbon can NOT remove ammonia or nitrate despite claims of certain carbon products.
