Large Raw Cinnamon Sapwood Curl Caves
Dawn Aquatics
Our large Cinnamon Sapwood Rolls are both practical and highly beneficial for blackwater aquariums. Sourced from true Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum), this aquarium-safe cinnamon sapwood contains naturally occurring cinnamaldehyde, which is believed to help keep common aquarium diseases at bay due to its antibacterial properties.
During the natural drying process, the bark curls into beautiful rolls, creating outstanding natural shelters and spawning spots for shrimp, crayfish, and small fish. Cinnamon bark is particularly loved by freshwater shrimp and bottom-dwelling species, as it promotes natural foraging, grazing, and biofilm development.
COUMARIN FREE
Tannins Released: Medium
Common Question:
We are often asked whether cinnamon can cause a cinnamaldehyde overdose in aquariums. After boiling, the amount of cinnamaldehyde released is minimal. In addition, cinnamaldehyde has poor water solubility, making an overdose extremely unlikely. These factors are believed to result in just enough cinnamaldehyde being released to provide a gentle antibacterial benefit. This is why cinnamon has been used safely by shrimp keepers in parts of Southeast Asia for decades and is also believed to support shrimp growth and overall health.
